Superior Towers
Established in 1978 by Frank Sherman, the business of
fabricating boat tops, boat towers, and boat shade was a
challenge. The industry was creating products that were
functional but not always stylish and the designs were not
always complementary to the specific boat. Superior Towers feels
that boat towers not only have to be functional but also a work
of art. Frank started with dock ladders, quickly moving onto
small boat towers and boat ladders. Frank's son Robert did all
the welding. As in most father and son businesses, Frank said
that Robert was a part-time welder drawing full-time pay. But
Robert must have done some things right as he took over the
business in 1988. With the new responsibilities he realized that
the company must be innovative and produce a product that would
draw people away from the larger more established and better
know firms. So in 1989 he opened the Fiberglass Shop. This
allowed him to make boat hard tops that remain unique to each
job, and to custom mold electronic storage boxes, boat seats,
and even mold in lights and speakers. Whatever the customer's
ideas are, Robert can accommodate them.
